More than $1.6 Million Awarded to
the Stillwater Public Library Since 2007

The Stillwater Public Library Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and expanding the reach and impact of Stillwater Public Library in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Our core mission is to engage the community and its resources to provide vital funding for the library, going beyond what the city's budget covers. This financial support helps the library offer a wider array of materials, programs, and services, and contributes to the preservation of its historic building.

Key areas of support provided by the Foundation include:

  • Enhanced Materials: Funding new books, e-books, audiobooks, and other materials, including multiple copies of popular titles to reduce waiting lists and subscriptions to newspapers.

  • Inspiring Programs: Supporting a diverse range of programs for all ages, such as summer reading programs, early literacy activities, arts and STEM enrichment, and lifelong learning opportunities.

  • Expanded Access and Services: Contributing to initiatives like Sunday hours, Wi-Fi hotspots for community checkout, and the employment of a volunteer coordinator and a part-time youth services librarian to optimize library support.

  • Historic Preservation and Renovations: Assisting with maintenance and restoration projects for the library's historic building, such as masonry restoration and the installation of sun shade awnings.

The Stillwater Public Library Foundation actively raises funds through various initiatives, including its signature annual event, "Light a Spark," a Fourth of July celebration featuring dinner, entertainment, and a prime view of fireworks. We also encourage individual donations, planned giving, and volunteer involvement to further our mission. Essentially, the Foundation plays a crucial role in ensuring that Stillwater Public Library remains a vibrant and world-class community resource for literacy, learning, and engagement.
